Three Awards went to the Newton-Conover City Schools this year at the Catawba County United Way 2013-14 Spirit Awards/Annual Meeting on Wednesday, April 16. The awards were given based on employee contributions in the United Way Campaign this year. There were three awards given to schools in our county: Elementary, Middle and High. Newton Conover took two of three awards with Conover Schools winning the award for the High School division (highest giving per employee at a high school in Catawba County) and Conover School won the Elementary division. Maiden Middle School, Catawba County Schools, took the title for the Middle School Division. N-C then took a bonus award by receiving the Division IV (350 – 599 employees) “Runner-Up” award.
Bill Long, the district coordinator for the United Way, said, “I am very proud of what our district brings to the table in contributions for the past two years. It is a testimony to the importance our staff see in the mission of United Way and they show it in their contributions. Much credit goes to Tefany Major, Office Manager of Newton-Conover City Schools Central Office, who coordinates incoming contributions. Much credit also to the many Site Coordinators at each of our schools like Luann Walker at Discovery High School and Tara Bumgarner at the Conover School.”
Congratulations to all their success!
