Recently, the N-CCS Curriculum Team was thrilled to find out that their electronic newsletter, “The Compass: Your Guide to Instructional Support”, won an award from the National School Public Relations Association. The Compass was established in September of 2013 as a reference for best practices, instructional strategies, pertinent district and state news, cutting edge technology tools, and N-CCS staff/student successes. The aim of the team was to collect these pieces of information and organize them into one user-friendly, easily accessible monthly format. This Award of Excellence from the NSPRA’s 2014 Publications and Electronic Media Contest was awarded to the N-CCS Curriculum Team on June 17th, followed by a plaque received on July 31st. This year, there were 725 entries in this specific contest, and 67 entries in the web site’s portion. Out of those 67, 9 received Awards of Excellence, 12 received Awards of Merit, and 6 received Awards of Honorable Mention. The Award of Excellence winners were recently on display in the Publication Exchange Center at the NSPRA National Seminar in Baltimore, Maryland, from July 13-July 16, 2014. A complete list of winners can be found at www.nspra.org under the Awards, Contests, and Scholarships section. The N-CCS Curriculum Team, consisting of Heather Mullins, Tammy Brown, Bill Long, Betsy Rosenbalm, and Cindy Geddes, will receive recognition at the August 18th N-CCS School Board Meeting.
