On Sunday, August 24th, N-CCS students, parents, staff members, directors, administrators, community leaders, former Superintendents, and the N-CCS School Board of Education met in the new South Newton Cafeteria/Gymnasium/Auditorium to celebrate the beginning of a new era in the legacy of South Newton Elementary. The special event was comprised of a dedication ceremony, refreshments, and building tours. During the ceremony, the crowd was welcomed by Superintendent, Dr. David Stegall, and received greetings and well-wishes from BOE Chair, Jim Stockner, and Newton Mayor, Ann Steadman. South Newton students and N-CHS NJROTC students led the crowd in the Pledge of Allegiance. South Newton students also sang a special song of dedication, written specifically for the school before the ground breaking ceremony two years ago. Assistant Superintendent, Dr. Gabriel, thanked the many people who made the construction project a reality, including N-CCS Director of Maintenance, Robin Rudisill, N-CCS Construction Manager, Allen Kirby, and South Newton Principal, Julia Styers. A well-spoken fifth grade student delivered a strong speech to his classmates and community members, as well, proving that South Newton Tigers are well on their way to finding the leader inside of themselves. The South Newton community was encouraged to embrace the leadership potential and reality that lies within them, as they lead the way into a brand new school year in a brand new building! As the community embraces the new school building, and the students and staff members embrace the new opportunities ahead, there’s no doubt that we will be experiencing the “Good Ol’ Days” now!
