Paving the Way for Conover School’s 24th Annual Toy Run!

Biker Run 2It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, and the hustle and bustle of the season is now being kicked into high gear!  Just as traditions make holidays grand, so do the generous acts of the hometown heroes of Newton and Conover. On Saturday, December 6th, Conover School will have their 24th Annual Toy Run. It will start at the Wizard’s Lounge in Hickory and end at the Newton-Conover High School Gym at approximately 1:00 pm, where/when Conover students will perform for the participants.

Once a year, a local business owner, Mike Dyson, and his crew take the time to create special holiday memories for not just one,  but for every child who attends Conover School.  Each Conover student receives an annual decorative t-shirt, as well as a specially selected and packaged gift, given by Santa Dyson and his helpers. Mike Dyson and his crew of crafty elves and patrons of the Wizard’s Lounge have once again been diligent in working all year to prepare for the Conover School Biker’s Run, which is followed by the culminating Conover Christmas Program. As a gift in return to Mike Dyson and his crew, Conover Staff and students put on a spectacular variety show and sing, dance, use sign language, rock, and roll to their hearts’ content.  Each grade level performs a holiday song related to the year’s theme.  All students that participate that day are able to experience the sights and sounds of the hundreds of bikes, generous people, smiles, and tears of onlookers appreciating these students who give their best performances.

Local community members can opt to purchase a ticket and put on their leather and helmets for a memorable ride into the event, or they can just come free of charge to get a glimpse of Conover students at their best. You don’t want to miss this special annual celebration of love for these truly special students! For more information, contact the Conover School office staff at 828-464-9532.
