On Saturday, December 13, 2014, students and staff members, as well as community and church members of Newton and Conover, are combining their efforts, resources, and skills to provide the 4th Annual Community Christmas Luncheon for those who may be in need of a FREE lunch this holiday season. Doors will be open at the Calvary Baptist Church Fellowship Hall in Newton from 11am to 2pm, and 63 turkeys with all the fixings will be warm and ready to feed up to 600 guests!
Students in all grades in Newton-Conover City schools, as well as local visitors to the ECCCM, Corner Table, DSS, and Salvation Army Facilities/Programs have all been invited to bring their family members and come enjoy this annual meal.
Santa Clause will be there to take free pictures and meet with the children who attend. Each child who is of elementary age or younger will receive a free gift, and all families will leave with a Blessing Bag, full of free and useful items for home and personal use.
Newton-Conover High School would like to thank the numerous service clubs at N-CHS (such as the BETA Club, FCS, HOSA, NHS, FCCLA, Gamers, Super Fans, Drama Club, Chorus, etc.), the dedicated PTSA at N-CHS, the staff at N-CHS (especially Vallie Murray, Marilyn Johnson, and Elizabeth Gargis), the South Newton Elementary Student Council, the Styers Family, Chandler Roffey Entertainment, Pierre Foods, the N-CCS Central Office Staff, and many, many more dedicated individuals who made this event possible for the community.
This annual event was the vision of three previous N-CHS staff members, Ericia Turner, Donna Scronce, and Brenda Wilson, who wanted to keep the spirit of the successful N-CCS Back to School Bash alive four years ago. Today, under the direction of School Counselor Tammy Hayman and Principal Kevin Campbell, the generous spirit of Christmas giving lives on in this warm and inviting event, fit for the whole family! For more information or details on this special luncheon, contact the staff at N-CHS at (828) 465-0920.
