Jessica Fitzgerald, Kindergarten teacher at Shuford Elementary School, earned her National Board Certification this year. When asked why she pursued her National Boards she responded, “I started the National Board process after hearing colleagues and friends talk about how beneficial it was to them. I heard the process truly helped them become better, more reflective teachers.” The National Board website (www.boardcertifiedteachers.org) says that National Boards “allows teachers to hone their practice, showcase their talent in the classroom, and demonstrate their dedication to their students and their profession.”
When asked how she felt about the process now that she has completed it, Mrs. Fitzgerald stated, “Now that I have completed the National Board Certification process, I completely agree (that it was beneficial)! I now consistently think more critically about lessons that take place in the classroom and brainstorm ways to improve those lessons so they benefit all students!”
If you are pursuing your National Board Certification this year and need some quiet work time, join us for this year’s three remaining N-CCS National Board Saturday Morning Work Sessions. These will occur on February 7, March 7, and April 25, 2015 at North Newton Elementary from 8:00 am – 1:00 pm.
Congratulations Mrs. Fitzgerald! N-CCS is proud to include you in our ranks of National Board Certified Teachers.
