On Thursday, March 12th, Scott Stilwell and Tim Lail of Clark Tire of Newton revealed a well-deserved surprise to the latest winner of their annual “Rubber Meets the Road” contest for deserving teachers in Newton-Conover City Schools. Clark Tire presented Newton-Conover Middle School special education teacher, Mr. Charles Draper, with his new and improved Mazda pickup truck.
Thanks to this annual initiative and the generous partnership of parts and services from Clark Tire and O’Reilly Auto Parts of Newton, Mr. Draper’s truck has been fine tuned and polished up with many new bells and whistles to help him on his commute to N-CMS each day. The newly renovated truck, affectionately known in the Draper home as “Butterscotch”, is the only vehicle Mr. Draper has ever owned. He first purchased it when he was in high school and has put much time and effort into keeping it in functioning order. Now, with over $3, 000 worth of new parts and repairs, such as four new tires, a new windshield, a new radiator, a shock system, a brake system, and more, Mr. Draper should be able to cruise into a new decade of ownership in a safe and dependable vehicle–perfect for transporting his wife, a local Kindergarten teacher, and their 7 month old daughter.
Newton-Conover City Schools truly appreciate the hard work of this teacher, coach, and new father, as well as the kind and generous partnership of John Clark of Clark Tire and Jimmy Bounous and Dennis Bowers of O’Reilly Auto Parts. The smile and amazement that was evident on Mr. Draper’s face during the reveal of his upgraded truck showed that he was truly appreciative of all that these local companies provided unselfishly to allow for his vehicle to be better than ever. Congratulations to Charles Draper for this honor and special thanks to these local partners for this amazing experience.
