These fine young men emulated respect and reverence as they led the group in this salute.

North Newton Principal, Mr. Shane Whitener, recognized two teachers for their phenomenal performance in the classroom and their ability to engage students and help them make growth. For these reasons, Kindergarten teacher, Kristin Rhyne, and 3rd grade teacher, Allison Patton, were acknowledged and thanked by the BOE for their hard work and dedication.

Shuford Elementary School Principal, Mr. Patrick Nelson, recognized Jeremy Toney, General Manager of McDonald’s, for his willingness to give so generously to Shuford. He also recognized Pastor Hugh Whitfield of Tri-City Baptist Church, not only for his church’s skill and dedication in improving the grounds, but also for giving generous donations to aid and assist at Shuford. Pastor Whitfield was unable to attend.

Newton-Conover Middle School Principal, Ms. Kim Kaylor, recognized two very dedicated parent volunteers, Kelly Griffin and Mark Pennell. She saluted them for their time, talents, generosity, and creativity when working with the students and staff members at N-CMS.

Superintendent, Dr. David Stegall, recognized Shuford Elementary Kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Jessica Fitzgerald, for her recent accomplishment of earning her National Board Certification in teaching. She joins an elite group of teachers in our state and nation who have reached such a high goal.

Lastly, Dr. Stegall recognized the persistence and dedication of BOE members, Jeanne Jarrett, Jim Stockner, and Bev Hall, for their successful completion of school board training during the 2013-2014 school year.

Once again, the evening served as a wonderful reminder of why we are proud to say, “We are Newton-Conover!”
