Spring has sprung at Conover School! As the weather warms up and children can have some recess outside, students all want to play on the adapted playground!
Recently, with monies raised through fund raising events and generous donations, a new foundation was poured under the adapted wheelchair swings. This composite is rubber-like and is a much more friendly fall zone material. The school also received a new swing area and platform swing from the combined efforts of the N-CCS district office and Growing Smiles in Hickory. Now, after a successful Zumba-thon, led by Ms. Jessica, and additional generous donations from community members, the school has enough money to re-surface a second area on the playground! The PTO and the vendor company have now planned to pour this new area in the coming weeks.
In addition, the school will hold their 3rd annual Conover School Run & Roll 5k Race on June 20, 2015 to raise money for the third and final poured section of the playground. The PTO hopes to have sections 1 and 2 completely finished by the 5k so that the participants will be able to see the fruits of their labor!
To look at the faces of the Conover students, it looks as if they are definitely enjoying their new equipment and playground flooring! Whether you walk or roll at Conover School, there’s an activity for any and everyone to enjoy on their playground!
