The N-CCS Employee of the Month for June 2015 is Mrs. Amber Humprey, Instructional Coach at Shuford Elementary School. This spring, Mrs. Humphrey has not only served as the Instructional Coach, but also as the School Counselor and the Principal while they have both been on leave with their new babies. These situations have required that Mrs. Humphrey wear many hats at Shuford Elementary–but she has proven that she can wear them all quite well!
The numerous nominations made on behalf of Amber this month speak to her many responsibilities, and her ability to juggle those roles well! As one teacher shared, “Amber is an amazing woman who is able to handle all kinds of responsibility. As an Instructional Coach, she has helped many teachers meet the individual needs of students with her suggestions. She is involved with the students, knows them by name, and always has a smile! She has given us information that is useful and practical which improves our classroom instruction. While in the position of acting principal, with all of the situations that involves with parents, discipline, decision making, etc., she was also responsible for EOG testing for all grades. She is always approachable, staff always feel like they are “heard”, and she comes up with practical solutions that everyone is happy with. Her flexibility is evident and she maintains a composed demeanor when faced with sudden changes. She is a wonderful role model for both staff and students.”
Other staff members shared, “Amber always takes pride in her work. She works hard at whatever task is assigned to her! She takes time to make sure everyone understands what they need to know and is just a tremendous asset to Shuford!” Another staff member stated, “Amber has given 110% in all that she has done all year! In addition to that, she has stepped into the role as the administrator and has done a great job. She has worked well with the parents and made sure that they felt valued while Mr. Nelson has been out. I am so proud of how she has handled all of the craziness that comes at the end of a school year! She is so deserving of this honor!”
Mrs. Humphrey is another reason why we are proud to say, “We are Newton-Conover!” We will continue to nominate and award additional staff members with this distinguished honor in the fall of 2015. May all of our staff members enjoy a well-deserved, relaxing summer break!
