The June 2015 N-CCS Board of Education Meeting began with recognitions of just some of the outstanding staff members and initiatives taking place in Newton-Conover City Schools. The meeting began with the Pledge of Allegiance, led by Shuford Elementary student, Jackson Martin.
Newton-Conover Middle School Principal, Ms. Kim Kaylor, recognized two of her very successful teachers on their recent acknowledgements. Ms. Kaylor congratulated Fallon Sutherland for her recent accomplishment of being named Catawba Valley Middle School Conference Female Coach of the Year. This is a tremendous honor for this N-CMS teacher and coach. Ms. Kaylor also expressed her pride in Renee Jewell on her recent appointment to serve as a Discovery Place STEM Educator for 2015-2016. Ms. Jewell was acknowledged for her hard work and dedication as an EC teacher at N-CMS.
Superintendent, Dr. David Stegall, then saluted Ms. Kim Kaylor for her many years of service and leadership to public education and N-CMS. She has recently announced her retirement from N-CMS. Dr. Stegall wished her all the best in her future endeavors!
Next, Dr. Stegall presented to the BOE Ms. Stacy Mrazek, who was recently chosen as one of 31 N. C. Teacher Voice Fellows. In this program, she will provide feedback to colleagues and policy makers throughout the state in the coming year.
Lastly, Dr. Stegall recognized Mr. Brian Smith, N-CCS RtI and Staff Development Coordinator, and Mr. Jamie Frye, N-CCS Instructional Technology Facilitator, for recently being named to the distinguished international group of ASCD Emerging Leaders.
Once again, the evening served as a wonderful reminder of why we are proud to say, “We are Newton-Conover!”
