Mr. Hicks’ Core and Sustainable Construction class recently visited the HVAC program on the campus of CVCC. Mr. Jody Lail, HVAC instructor for CVCC, talked with the students about program training and jobs available in heating, air conditioning, refrigeration. Students had the opportunity to see how electric furnaces, heat pumps, oil heaters, and the geothermal heater work. Core and Sustainable Construction is the entry level class for construction programs offered at NCHS including Carpentry, Masonry, and Drafting. During the semester class, Mr. Hicks introduces students to jobs and possible careers in the related fields. Several students expressed an interest in seeking further information in the HVAC field. The Career and Technical Education (CTE) Department at NCHS is working closely with CVCC to align courses taught on our campus to the programs offered at CVCC to provide training for students for the jobs and careers available in Catawba County. For more information on NCHS CTE course, contact Julia Styers, CTE Director, at Julia_styers@nccs.k12.nc.us.
