Each year the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction recognizes Exceptional Children teachers from across the state who have been nominated by their peers as Teachers of Excellence. This year Audrey McGee, EC teacher at South Newton Elementary School, was chosen to receive this special recognition. Mrs. McGee was honored during a reception at the Exceptional Children’s Conference held in Greensboro, Thursday, November 19th. Guests of honor were each presented a plaque by Bill Hussey, state director of Exceptional Children. Each of the traditional LEA’s and charter schools were able to select one well-deserving teacher from their district to be honored. We are proud in Newton-Conover to say Mrs. Audrey McGee was most deserving of this honor.
