The November Team of the Month: Beginning Teacher Mentors

DSC_0477This year, N-CCS has started an initiative in which staff members nominate a team who they feel is deserving of being named Team of the Month. This team will be awarded with district recognition and a $100 stipend. Throughout the month, teams are nominated through a Google form, and a committee votes on the winner of the Team of the Month on or around the 15th of each month.  In November, the Beginning Teacher Mentors were voted by schools in the district to receive this honor!

Our Beginning Teacher mentors are out and about in every one of our schools making sure that our Beginning Teachers make the transition into their teaching career with grace and support.  Our BT Mentors are:

Brenda Harbinson: Middle and High School Beginning Teacher Mentor
Debbie Saunders:Elementary School Beginning Teacher Mentor

Among the many accolades that they all received, one individual said “We are so fortunate to have two AMAZING and successful teachers serve our beginning teachers as mentors. Brenda and Debbie travel all over this district working tirelessly to ensure our beginning teachers are supported and have the resources they need.”

Another note shared that “Just as we expect teachers to differentiate their instruction, these ladies are masterful at differentiating for our young teachers. This year, in particular, they serve 22 BT 1s that they see every week as well as 30 additional BT 2s and 3s. Our beginning teachers and our administrators are so lucky to have these amazing ladies providing support, guidance, and resources to our beginning teachers in Newton-Conover.”

On behalf of N-CCS, we congratulate Brenda and Debbie on being selected as the Team of the Month for November. You are both a beacon of light in our schools, and your impact on our BTs has enlivened learning environments in Newton-Conover Schools!
