On Thursday, March 17 Newton-Conover City Schools (N-CCS) Bus Drivers, Monitors, and School Administrators celebrated the vital role that our transportation staff provide for the students of N-CCS. These amazing folks are often the first and last N-CCS faces many of our students see. In many cases they are the first and last smiling faces they see as well. Whether the temperature is a searing 98 degrees in the very early and late parts of the school year or the f rigid and icy mornings during the months in between, these fine folks dutifully provide safe transit for our students who would not be able to get to school any other way. We owe a huge debt of gratitude to these amazing folks!!!
The Bus Appreciation Banquet included a scrumptious meal catered by Waffle House as well as the giving of awards based on the years of successful driving experience each bus staff member has attained. The honorees for the 2015-2016 school year include: Gail Starnes (10 years); Kelli Clampitt, Nicola Hershberger, Tina Ross (15-years); Kim Beal, Gina Lutz, Audrey Phelps (20-years); Lori Lamb (25-years), and Audra Smith (30 years).
Mrs. Audra Smith (30-years) began driving as a high school student and became a full-time employee of N-CCS upon her high school graduation. N-CCS also celebrated the fantastic contribution made by Mr. Billy Ray Ramseur Sr. as he completed his 34th year as a N-CCS bus driver. Mr. Ramseur retired in December 2015 but plans to come back to drive for N-CCS in the fall of the 2016-2017 school year!! Please take a moment to thank these fine folks for the thankless work they do each and every day that school is in operation for students!!!!
