On Monday evening, South Newton celebrated the English Second Language (ESL) program through food, festivities, and fun. The evening began for students and their families with a skit presented by the Spanish class from University Christian High School. These teen-age bilinguals shared a bit of history regarding Eva Perone’s positive influence on her homeland of Argentina as well as the rest of the world. Next, Ms. Kim Noles (dance teacher) led the ESL students in dancing the Salsa and the Mexican Hat dance. Theater and dancing were closely followed by tastings of foods representative of various world cultures donated by local restaurants and community partners. As parents enjoyed refreshment, they were able to view a video presentation of their students presenting world culture concepts they had recently learned. Finally, to top off the festivities, students raced to bust the pinatas! Candies and treats flowed freely for everyone! The fun and informative evening was planned and led by la maestra, Senora Jane Guelzow (ESL teacher). Fue una noche divertida para todos!
