South Newton students and staff have been busy preparing for their 2nd annual leadership day to be held on Thursday, May 5th, 9am-11am on South’s campus. South Newton is in their second year of implementation of Leader in Me, a Franklin Covey initiative based on Stephen Covey’s 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. Only in year two, results are already paying off. Students are learning to take responsibility for their actions and are growing their own leadership capacity by learning about and living out the 7 habits. Students have leadership roles in their classrooms and in the school. They advocate for themselves and each other as well as hold each other accountable on a daily basis. They seek to make their school, their homes, and their community more engaged and positive. Do you wonder what Leader in Me is all about? Please join these enthusiastic student leaders on Thursday, see them in action, and listen to their compelling stories. You will not walk away disappointed but rather renewed and full of hope for the future of these young people and for our community!
