Local Community Leaders Make Significant Contribution to Conover School

cindy and rodney davisThe Catawba County community has once again shown their undying commitment to the success of all students at Conover School: Cindy and Rodney Davis, owners of Westside Tattoo Company, have presented a donation to Conover School in the amount of $2,767.

This significant contribution is the result of numerous acts of charity for Conover, ranging from donations made at Westside Tattoo, to donations from business and community leaders organized by Mr. and Mrs. Davis.

On April 2nd, Westside Tattoo company–owned by Rodney Davis–sponsored a ‘tattoo day’ for Conover School from 11 am to 9 pm. During that time, most of the money from any ‘puzzle piece’ tattoo–a popular tattoo for Autism awareness–that was done for a customer went to Conover School. The tattoo itself was $20, and $15 of it went to Conover School. In total, 54 tattoos were done in that time period, raising over $800 for the school.

In addition to this, Conover School successfully raised approximately $1,200 during Conover School’s BBQ fundraiser on April 8th. Cindy Davis and her husband Rodney Davis, who own Westside Tattoo company, put this fundraiser on with several of their co-workers and friends. As they cooked the BBQ, Conover School staff prepared plates consisting of buns, slaw and beans to sell to anyone who wanted to buy a plate. It was an extremely successful venture.

Mr. and Mrs. Davis have a personal stake in Conover School, as their daughter Chloe attends and has for many years.  That adds an entirely new layer of meaning to their willingness to take on this project — for the second year running.

“Last year, myself along with my husband Rodney Davis, Owner of Westside Tattoo Company, decided we wanted to help out the school that does so many great things for the children of this community. My daughter has made leaps and bounds in growth with speech, social skills and so many other things due in large part because of EVERY member of the staff at Conover School, so I hold you guys near and dear to my heart,” said Mrs. Davis.

Mr. and Mrs. Davis have also done a raffle for Conover School.  Josh Weese, Assistant Principal of Conover School, shared details about the lengths the Davises went to in order to secure significant donations.

“For this raffle, local area businesses donated prizes such as gift certificates or gift packages, and then Cindy and Rodney sold raffle tickets to as many people as possible.  Once the ticket purchasing process is over, prizes are attached randomly to these tickets and the winners are contacted to receive their award,” said Weese.

Every dollar made from this raffle has been donated to Conover School — and they could not be more thankful.

“We would like to send a HUGE shoutout to Westside Tattoo and Rodney and Cindy Davis for all the hard work they are doing for our school and students. These are 3 huge fundraising events they have hosted on their own time for the benefit of our students. The work they are putting in–and the money they are raising for us–is greatly appreciated,” said Weese.
