South Newton Hosts Visitors From England

South Newton Elementary played host to some very special visitors from England during the week of January 23rd. Consultants from the Letterland company came to the USA to film South Newton literacy experts, Leah Hayes (kindergarten), Julianne Surratte (first grade), and Shannon Mullins (second grade), teaching Letterland. These instructional videos will be used as training materials for teachers all over the country working to incorporate Letterland into their literacy frameworks. Testimonials from Principal Amber Humphrey, Superintendent Dr. David Stegall, Associate Superintendent Dr. Aron Gabriel, Elementary Director Tammy Brown, and Reading Specialist Cynde Gilmore will be included in the videos as well. Even Letterland characters Annie Apple and Bouncy Ben made a special appearance! Letterland is a unique, phonics-based approach to teaching reading, writing, and spelling to 3-8 year olds. South Newton was honored to be chosen for this amazing opportunity and to play host to these special friends!
