South Newton Participates in World Read Aloud Day

On Thursday, February 16, many South Newton students and teachers participated in World Read Aloud Day. Every year World Read Aloud Day calls global attention to the importance of reading aloud and sharing stories. This event showcases communities of readers all around the world advocating for literacy through intentional acts of sharing the power of words. Pictured here are kindergarteners in Mrs. Styers’ class reading favorite books to pre-kindergarteners in Mrs. Canipe’s class. Also, Mrs. McGee’s class celebrated World Read Aloud Day by sharing Beekle, The Unimaginary Friend by Dan Santat. Beekle is the 2017 Catawba County/Lenoir Rhyne University Little Read book of the year.
