South Newton Students Win Big in International Film Festival Poster Contest

Three South Newtons students recently won accolades as well as cash prizes in the 2017 International Film Festival poster contest. Jimena Salazar (5th grade) won first place in the creative design contest. Elaina Krider (4th grade) won first place for her grade level division, and Josue Salazar (4th grade) won the third place award. The International Film Festival is sponsored by the Hickory International Council.

The Hickory International Council was established by the Hickory Mayor and City Council to serve as a forum for the international community in Hickory and to advise the City Council regarding ways to improve Hickory as an inclusive city that welcomes and values international visitors, residents and businesses.
