Newton-Conover City Schools has partnered with FLOW Toyota of Statesville to form a bond that is an example of the strong support our school system experiences because of our community. Newton-Conover City Schools purchased a new driver’s education vehicle (Toyota) in the spring. A conversation with Mr. Todd Harkins from FLOW Toyota led to an innovative approach to get the message out about our school system, provide community recognition for a business partner, and provide a scholarship for one of our talented art students. Students taking art classes at Newton-Conover High School were asked to design a schematic for a car wrap for the new driver’s education vehicle. The submissions were reviewed by a panel of judges who selected the wrap artwork of recent N-CHS graduate, Brenda Vang. For her talented efforts, Brenda received a $1,000 scholarship to use at the post-secondary institution of her choice courtesy of our friends at Flow Toyota of Statesville. Mr. Marty Isenhour and Mrs. Karmen Lawing, N-CHS art instructors, spear-headed the initiative within art classes and Art Club members. Mr. Isenhour also partnered with a vendor to create and apply the car wrap. This attractive driver’s ed car is the first of many ventures between Newton-Conover City Schools and our strong community partners such as Flow Toyota of Statesville. Keep your eyes open for the driver’s ed car as you drive around Newton-Conover and remember to support local businesses that provide valuable support to the students and staff of the Newton-Conover City Schools!!!!!
