Administrator Spotlight: Phyllis Pegram

In honor of Principals’ Appreciation Month, Newton-Conover City Schools will be spotlighting its incredible Principals from now through the end of October.  Today’s feature is on Dr. Phyllis Pegram, Principal of Conover School!

Dr. Pegram began teaching elementary students in 1995 with the fourth grade at East Elementary in Statesville.  She also taught 2nd grade and later became the assistant principal and principal of the same school.  She came to Newton Conover City Schools in 2012 as the principal of Shuford Elementary and this is her fifth year as principal of Conover School. Dr. Pegram graduated with a BA in elementary education from Catawba College.  She also has a master’s and a doctorate degree in Educational Leadership from Gardner Webb University. Dr. Pegram am married to Roy Pegram and have two sons Derek and Brandon and three grandchildren.

About Leah Bobbett

Leah attends Lenoir-Rhyne University as a senior. At Lenoir-Rhyne she has taken coursework in public relations, broadcast, journalism, and public speaking. She has also taken classes on argumentation, advocacy, and rhetoric. During summers previous she has worked with a number of organizations, to assist in their public relations departments, their social media departments, and planning events for them. On campus, she is currently the social media director for the SARA Club. Leah wrote for the Lenoir-Rhyne student newspaper, the LRN Monthly, for two semesters. Leah is also part of Lambda Pi Eta, the communications honor society for college students.
