Administrator Spotlight: Amber Humphrey

In honor of Principals’ Appreciation Month, Newton-Conover City Schools will be spotlighting its incredible Principals from now through the end of October.  Today’s feature is on Ms. Amber Humphrey, Principal of South Newton Elementary!

Amber Humphrey serves as the Principal of South Newton Elementary.  She received her Bachelor’s Degree in 2002 from Concord University in Elementary Education with an add-on in Early Education and obtained her Master’s Degree in Executive Leadership from Gardner Webb University in 2010. She spent five years as an elementary teacher before joining Newton Conover City Schools as an Instructional Coach at Shuford Elementary where she served for 7 years before being named Principal of South Newton Elementary in 2015. Amber lives in Newton with her husband Jason and  two children, Phineas and Emerson. She enjoys visiting her home state of West Virginia and spending time with her family.

About Leah Bobbett

Leah attends Lenoir-Rhyne University as a senior. At Lenoir-Rhyne she has taken coursework in public relations, broadcast, journalism, and public speaking. She has also taken classes on argumentation, advocacy, and rhetoric. During summers previous she has worked with a number of organizations, to assist in their public relations departments, their social media departments, and planning events for them. On campus, she is currently the social media director for the SARA Club. Leah wrote for the Lenoir-Rhyne student newspaper, the LRN Monthly, for two semesters. Leah is also part of Lambda Pi Eta, the communications honor society for college students.
