Ms. Eileen Cangemi, teacher at Conover School, was recognized at the North Carolina Exceptional Children’s Conference as an Educator of Excellence. Ms. Cangemi is a phenomenal teacher who works primarily with the elementary age students at Conover School. She has taught for over 30 years and spends her free time with her three daughters as well as making adaptive books and materials for her class.
Ms. Cangemi was notified earlier in the year of the honor and received a free registration to the EC Conference last week. She, along with other Educators of Excellence, were honored at a banquet Thursday evening at the Koury Convention Center in Greensboro. She was congratulated by members of the Department of Public Instruction including Dr. Maria Pitre-Martin, Deputy Superintendent; Mark Johnson, State Superintendent; and Bill Hussey, State EC Director. Dr. Phyllis Pegram, principal at Conover School along with Dr. Keisha Pritchard, EC Director celebrated with Ms. Cangemi at the conference.
