N-CMS Choral Student Chosen for State Honors

Sarah Walker, an 8th grader at Newton-Conover Middle School, auditoned and was chosen for the 2015 North Carolina All-State Chorus. Singers from all over the state came together on April 24th and 25th to rehearse music at a very high level of achievement with a nationally-known clinician. NCMS Students Fare Well in Regional Science Olympiad Competition

Science Rocks!  The NCMS Science Olympiad Team proved that this weekend.  The team, coached by Sherrie Jones and Karen Waibel, competed in ten events at the regional competition at Catawba Valley Community College on Saturday, March 21. Ellen Williams and Kendra Cobb, 6th grade students at NCMS, recently entered a contest entitled “Wetlands are Wonderful” with the Catawba County Soil & Water Conservation District.  The girls, students in Mrs. Waibel’s science classes, created slide presentations to educate others about the importance of wetland conservation.
